Description

Extremely Rare 1913 Team Issue Oakland Oaks Heine Pernoll SGC 35 Good+ 2.5. Many collectors feel the use of the term "rare" is over used. No one will have an issue using the term to describe what has to be one of the most rare team issues ever produced. The unassuming sepia cards measure 2x3-5/8" with no adornment to surround a full-figure depiction of one of 20 different Oakland Oaks players of the Pacific Coast League (PCL). Their exact origin is unknown but the Cardinet Candy Company of Oakland seems to be a good guess. It is the Cardinet firm who sold "Texas Tommy" candy bars are responsible for the famous 1914 sets featuring major league players. The offered card of Heinie Pernoll is the only example graded by SGC (PSA has graded just one), this SGC 35 Good+ 2.5 copy is the finer of the two. Even the most advanced type-card collections will be missing a card from this issue. One can only guess when another opportunity to add a card from this extremely rare entry will present itself.
