    C. 1910 Wendel Mayo & Brothers Thomas Burns (Unissued Old Judge Portrait) & Original Envelope. "The Vermont Find" was an extraordinary collection of original glass plate negatives used to produce N172 and N173 Old Judge cards. No collection of its kind can compare. What we have here is a print looking like it was intended for the Old Judge series of John Doran with Omaha of the Western Association. The print has the familiar "Copyright 1888 Goodwin & Co." copy as one would find with Old Judge cards and is mounted to a piece of thin card stock with textured surfaces. This portrait of Doran is unknown as an Old Judge card. Advertising along the upper portion says, "P. H. Mayo & Brother Tobacco Co." It is possible Mayo proposed making their own version of N173 cabinet cards? Also included is an envelope that was mailed to a Mr. Thomas B. Doran" in Omaha, Nebraska. The return address reads "Wendel Photographic Art Studios of New York" and "Per Goodwin & Co." in pencil underneath. The 2-cent stamp dates to the 1880's but the photo was produced some time between 1902 and approx. 1915. Did Doran order a print? Was a new promotion 30-years after the Goodwin series be in the works? The card mount measures 4-3/4" x 7-3/4" with the beautifully developed matte-finish image is 4-1/4" x 6-3/8." Envelope has small tears and opening in the reverse but good condition all things expected.
