1922 E137 Zeenut Jim Thorpe (No Tab - Hand Cut) PSA EX-MT 6 - Only Two Graded by PSA, None Higher! Jim Thorpe's exploits on the gridiron have become the stuff of folklore, making it impossible to calculate the ratio of fact to fiction, but there is no question that he was the most talented football star of his age. The stories of his halftime drop kick field goals from the fifty yard line to entertain the fans may not be gospel, but his three World Championships with the Canton Bulldogs certainly are, and when the National Football League was founded in 1920, it was Thorpe who was chosen League president by the charter members. Parallels could accurately be drawn between Thorpe and Babe Ruth, each a "diamond in the rough," emerging from the reservation and the orphanage respectively, to establish themselves as the greatest talents (and gate attractions) of their day.

Graded PSA EX-MT 6. The finest example on record with PSA from a total submission pop of just two! His tenure with various sports/teams resulted in his appearing on precious trading cards. The offered E137 Zeenut from 1922 depicts the athletic legend with the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League, this was to be his final year Thorpe played in organized baseball. The card has had the Zeenut coupon which once was the bottom of the card removed - it is estimated that fewer than 5% of all Zeenut cards still have them - thus the "Hand Cut" reference. The central image of Thorpe is unaffected by physical or visual blemish. From a library of thousands of Zeenut cards issued between 1911 and 1939, Jim Thorpe remains one of the top five most coveted entries. A must have card that appears in only the most advanced vintage collections.
