1917 E135 Collins-McCarthy Walter Johnson (Blank Back) #87 PSA NM 7 - The Highest Graded PSA & SGC Example! Two things are absolutely true. One, Walter Johnson stands shoulder to shoulder next to immortals of his era like Cy Young and Christy Mathewson and this "Blank Back" variant is certainly the finest surviving example of this scarce entry from the library of Johnson card collectibles. So accomplished was his career that he was one of the first players to be inducted into Baseball's Hall of Fame. The lanky farmboy was somehow able to generate a ninety-nine miles per hour fastball, with a smooth side-armed motion that baffled and certainly terrified opposing batters. The E135 Collins-McCarthy set is a hobby favorite but the supply is limited. Examples missing the reverse printing are multiple times for difficult to acquire. This card was treasured as it has obviously been handled very little. Graded PSA NM 7. To date, PSA has graded only two! They are our offered card and a single "AUT." With no shortage of aesthetic appeal, this scarcity deserves high ranking in any vintage collection.
