Description

1917 E135 Collins-McCarthy Joe Jackson #82 PSA Authentic. The Collins-McCarthy library consists of an extensive number of volumes, their most famous being the "Zee Nut" cards that appeared in 1911 with annual promotions through 1938. It was in 1917 when their substantial promotion of 200 subjects made their debut and seemingly introduced the phrase "Baseball's Hall of Fame" to an adoring public. For a major release, the current supply is painfully inadequate to meet demand. What makes the Collins-McCarthy edition so important is that they are the only cards to showcase Major League players giving fans of the west coast a taste that the east coast has been feasting on. The roster contains such established greats like Ty Cobb, John McGraw, Walter Johnson and Honus Wagner but exciting new talents in George Sisler, Rogers Hornsby, Grover Alexander plus a pitcher in Boston they called "Babe."

Encapsulated PSA Authentic (Altered), This is one of only two cards encapsulated Authentic from a total of ten recorded on the PSA census. His classic full-figure portrait in the black, White Sox uniform is encased by corners that all have a hand cut appearance which would explain the PSA assessment. This card is very scarce regardless of the condition and one of Jackson's toughest major release cards.
