    Description

The superior example of two PSA representations!

1916 Standard Biscuit D350 Babe Ruth #151 Rookie PSA VG-EX 4. In a collecting hobby dominated by the traditions of tobacco and bubble gum, the humble "D-Card," nomenclature designating original distribution through the sale of baked goods, stands as a tiny but important footnote. Fewer than twenty-five species exist within the full spectrum of D-Cards, each surviving today in the thinnest populations.

One suspects that the perishable nature of baked goods was the reason that so few bakers threw their caps into the trading card ring--once the bread went stale, the loaf or biscuits were simply discarded (no pun intended), wasting their cardboard commemoratives.

Presented is one of the most significant survivors bearing the D-card DNA, one of only two Standard Biscuit Babe Ruth rookies residing within a PSA slab, and a full two grade levels superior to its lone rival. It dates to the young southpaw's greatest pitching season, one in which the twenty-one year old legend on the rise bested all American League pitchers with a microscopic 1.75 ERA in the regular season before pitching thirteen shut-out innings in Game Two of the World Series en route to a Boston Red Sox World Championship.

The ancient relic begins its second century of existence with little more than typical corner wear to document a long life since the Babe's career home run tally stood at seven.
