Description

1916 Famous & Barr Co. Joe Jackson #86 PSA NM 7--Pop One, None Superior! A parallel set to the far more common M101's of the era, this regional issue derives from a St. Louis department store as the distinctive advertising back indicates. Of course, trading cards picturing the eternally banished leading figure of the Chicago Black Sox scandal are remarkably rare in any issue, as Jackson's rise came near the end of the tobacco era, and his fall near the dawning of the candy card era. Certainly this ranks among the most desirable of that limited supply of cardboard commemoratives, both for its emergence from the tough Famous & Barr brand and its supremacy within that population.

An examination of this elite rarity validates its position at the top of the pop, as only the slightest touches appear at the corners and the centering is far closer to perfect than the average for Dead Ball Era trading cards. Front and verso printing is marvelously bold. An exciting opportunity to take your collection to a place no others can follow. Graded PSA NM 7.
