1915 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson #103 SGC 96 Mint 9 Pop Two, None Higher! Very few players truly transcend the game as the man named Joseph "Shoeless" Jackson. It was 1915, the year that this gorgeous card rolled off the assembly line, that saw one the game's greatest hitters ever, traded from Cleveland to Charles Comiskey's Chicago squad. Immortalized in legend, his batting exploits are condensed in his .356 career batting average that places him behind only Ty Cobb and Rogers Hornsby. He is the man who batted .408 in 1911 only to lose the batting title to Ty Cobb who managed a mind boggling .420. His banishment from the sport he so wonderfully excelled at fuels the wonderment of passionate baseball fans still after a century of time has passed. Where statistical ranking fails to convey his stature, titans of the game marveled at his natural ability of the man who served as inspiration to a "Babe" named Ruth. Here he still wears the cap of Cleveland, his trusted Black Betsy gripped tightly in his calloused farm boy hands, emblazoned against the scarlet background of this beautiful issue. The eye appeal of this card is stunning in every detail, just as the folks at Cracker Jack had envisioned when they produced these astonishing specimens. This is one of the most aesthetically pleasing baseball cards of all time. Adding to his myth is the severe lack of appearances on trading cards of any sponsorship from what is called the golden age of baseball cards.Graded SGC 96 Mint 9, this card is one of two to earn the Mint rating from SGC. No other has graded higher from the 45 reviewed by the SGC staff. In the same condition as it was the day it was produced and mint in all aspects, the technical grade confirms every condition characteristic one can conceive: four sharp corners, flawless registration, and bright, bold coloring. And make no mistake, the "Mint" label is as appropriate as it ever can be expected. His trusted bat guides the eye to the "Cracker Jack Ball Players" advertising. The reverse resonates with the same clarity and "as issued" appeal as does the obverse. This item was undoubtedly obtained through the mail-in promotion, as it is totally void of the sticky candy extract and shows no signs of circulation. To make a long story short, this is a magnificent example of one of the toughest high grade singles in the hobby.
