Description

1915 Cracker Jack Charles Comiskey #23 PSA NM-MT 8. First immortalized in cardboard in the 1887 Allen & Ginter N28 set when he played first base for the St. Louis Browns, Commy plays the role of "Owner of White Sox" in this popular issue dating to just four years before his team committed the game's greatest sin. Framed by the set's distinctive red background, the Hall of Fame executive gazes into the distance toward that unhappy future, and yet a future that left this cardboard rarity virtually untouched by the scandal or the destructive forces of time. The PSA population report shows us there are thirteen examples that have graded NM-MT and just three others grading higher than the presented specimen. The card displays admirable centering, the slightest edge/corner tip wear and consistent, and minimal, toning. Hardly any hint to the fact the card is approaching its centennial. Also absent is any sign of the sticky candy staining that plagues the issue.
