Description

1915 Cracker Jack Branch Rickey #133 PSA NM-MT 8 - Only Two Higher. The role Branch Rickey played in baseball history is simply nothing less than extraordinary. In the midst of the most socially consequential era in our National Pastime's history, Rickey selected from a short list of African-American prospects the brave Jackie Robinson to take the first tumultuous step across baseball's color line. This one heroic gesture single-handedly ended decades of racial injustice within our National Pastime. While Rickey's days in uniform as both a player and manager can be described as undistinguished, his front office work ranks him among the most important executives in the history of Major League Baseball. Offered is one of the few baseball cards he appears on - his Cracker Jack card from 1915. Graded PSA NM-MT 8. One of thirteen in NM-MT. Only two have rated higher.
