Fewer than 75 examples at any grade in joint pops of SGC & PSA!

1914 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson #103 SGC Good+ 2.5. It's one of the most visually impressive trading card issues of the Dead Ball Era and one of the most challenging for collectors due to myriad factors that reduced original distribution and hampered survival. Whereas its younger sibling--a slightly larger set issued in 1915--was available as a comprehensive redemption through the mail, the 1914 Cracker Jacks were distributed solely through point of purchase sale, inserted into the sticky mess of caramel and popcorn. Staining was endemic, and the paper stock was more fragile than the following year's release.

We should emphasize that "rarity" is always a relative term in the collectibles marketplace, and the 1915 issue is anything but common. So, in order to provide some sense of proportion, we'll note that the 1914 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson card is about three times as rare as the 1915.

It should go without saying that Shoeless Joe is one of the most coveted entries from this set, sharing that status with such legendary contemporaries as Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson and Honus Wagner. The subject card appears upon first glance to be undergraded due to its vivid color and fine centering, with the faults of corner wear and the aforementioned candy staining only coming into focus upon closer examination. It's certainly a card with aesthetics that outshine its technical assessment, and an exciting opportunity to enter a truly exclusive ownership club for the advanced collector. Graded SGC Good+ 2.5.
