1914 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson #103 PSA Authentic. From the ashes of the greatest scandal in the history of our National Pastime rose the mythical "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. He had been, for the last full decade of the Dead Ball Era, simply the greatest hitter on the planet. It is a distinction assigned to him by those most qualified to do so, the men who aspired to the title themselves. But where legends like Cobb and Williams turned a scientific eye to the process, deconstructing that fragment of a second that separates success from failure into parts far too small for the mere mortal to see, Jackson's approach was far less cerebral. The illiterate, child laborer from the rural South was also the prototypical "natural," the beneficiary of a gift from God that would be invoiced with a debt of ignominy yet to be forgiven.Encapsulated PSA Authentic. The PSA total population stands at just fifty. Considering this is one of those cards collectors will slab in any condition, just fifty examples confirmed after over 110 years is surprising. Like the fabled Black Sox outfielder himself, Cracker Jack cards were largely a victim of circumstance, challenged by an array of factors limiting healthy survival, from the sticky contents of its original packaging to the century of time's assault. Our offered example displays soiling toning, creases, corner wear and a triangle missing at the middle-center. Most collectors will never have any condition in their collections.
