Description

1914 Cracker Jack Grover Alexander #37 PSA NM 7 - Pop Three, One Higher. We expect that there will be a fairly sizable group of bidders who decide this is one of the "can't miss" lots of the auction. As the second year appearance of the all-time great, collectors of Cracker Jacks, 300 Game Winners, and Hall of Famer specialists lacking a high grade example of this troubled legend. His alcoholism, epilepsy and post-traumatic stress from World War I horrors couldn't derail one of the most remarkable pitching careers in baseball history. He is most known for his facing the dangerous Tony Lazzeri with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and the bases full the '26 World Series. It seems Alexander was roused to enter the game in relief to protect a three to two Cardinals lead. The rest is history. The offered example has every qualification of being a crowning touch atop any advanced vintage collection.

Graded PSA NM 7. One of just three recorded in NM with one rated higher. Surfaces are bright, clean and surprisingly free of anticipated product staining. Corners are sharp, centering is a modest percentage away from perfection. The red backdrop is vivid and defect free. A key card entry and among the top 100 cards of the hobby. One of three at the NM level with one other rated higher.
