1914 Cracker Jack Christy Mathewson #88 PSA Authentic. The 1914 Cracker Jack cards are approximately three times more rare than their one-year younger siblings. The large disparity in availability between the 1914 and 1915 Cracker Jack issues is attributed to the fact that the later set could be acquired, in full, through a distributor redemption plan. Here we find one of the most desirable entries in the set - Christy Mathewson. A now fabled rarity issued at a time during the last of a twelve-year streak of twenty-plus victory seasons. It's an intriguing action shot, set against the blood-red background that is the Cracker Jack issue's most recognizable feature. Only adding to its mythical history is the pose is unique to the '14 edition, giving way to a formal portrait of Mathewson for the 1915 edition. At some point during this card's lifetime, a former owner clipped a 1/3" piece of its upper corner. Therefore, it was encapsulated PSA Authentic (Altered). However, this is still an outstanding piece; its horizontal presentation is one of the most eye-appealing of all Cracker Jacks.View Certification and Population Details from PSA
