Description

1914 Boston Garter Tris Speaker SGC 40 VG 3 - Only Two Graded Examples on the SGC & PSA Census. The extremely rare 1914 Boston Garter Color series contains only a dozen baseball subjects but eight would become honored members of Baseball's Hall of Fame. Each example of these gorgeous window display cards is hotly pursued because one can only guess how long it may be before the next one will become available. This set is so incredibly rare, SGC has yet to grade one card of each of the advertised subjects! Their rarity is explained on the reverse as cards were intended only for retailers to place in their windows meaning a quick discarding of an old card to make room for the new. They were probably given to a store's best customer or simply the one that simply asked for them.

Offered is Hall of Fame outfielder Tris Speaker. Graded SGC 40 VG 3. The highest graded example of just two examples recorded on the PSA & SGC census combined. Speaker has not been recorded by PSA. The card displays no creases. Corners show a consistent rounding. The reverse is clean and has no surface loss. The full-figure portrait of Speaker is unique to the issue. This is nothing short of a phenomenal card to add to your collection.
