    Description

1911 E94 Close Candy Ty Cobb (Blue) PSA VG 3 (MK). John Esch collection. The greatest name of the Dead Ball era belongs to a man who would give birth to 4,191 hits, a total that stood for decades but topped by a Rose by any other name who needed an addition 2.500 at bats. The most extensively represented baseball figure from the tobacco days, Ty Cobb cards are found in almost every widely circulated card promotion. For the "E" Candy/Caramel collector, Ty Cobb's entry in the E94 George Close candy series is among the most highly prized "E" cards ever made and one that remains on most "Wanted" lists. Graded PSA VG 3 (MK). A testament to the "less is more" approach to design. This example is bright and fresh with modest amounts of corner wear that helps fine tune the technical grade but greatly fails to match visual appeal. The reverse shows a "400" in pencil. This is a very attractive Blue background variation, a color that very nicely compliments the bright white framing.
