Description

A population one-of-one masterpiece!

1911 D304 Brunners Bread Ty Cobb PSA NM-MT 8. His career stat line is clogged with the bold typeface of American League supremacy, including a dozen batting titles, but ask any baseball historian which season was Ty Cobb's finest, and the most common answer will be 1911. As this gorgeous trading card was gently hatched from the packaging of a loaf of Brunners bread, the Georgia Peach was engaged in one of the most dominant campaigns in the full history of American sports, nearly running the table for every offensive metric on the Junior Circuit leaderboard and sweeping the MVP balloting:

Batting average (.420), slugging percentage (.621), total bases (367), runs scored (147), hits (248), doubles (47), triples (24), runs batted in (127), stolen bases (83).

Like the man it commemorates, the offered trading card finds no equals, announcing sole supremacy on the PSA population chart for both the Brunners brand specifically (19 total examples) and for the full census of all D304 varietals (28 total examples). The search for any signs of more than a century of aging will challenge even the most exacting collector, as the corners remain sharp, the surfaces clean, and the borders a stark white. Add sharp registration and solid centering to the mix, and we are left with one of the most desirable Cobb cards available in the hobby today, and perhaps the most delectable "D-card" for any format or subject.
