Description

1910 Hal Chase "Fan for a Fan." Matched in scarcity only by the Frank "Home Run" Baker representation from the highly collectible issue of five, this Chase model serves as just the third individual offering at public auction in the past dozen years. One of the very first great stars of the New York Highlanders/Yankees, Chase joins Shoeless Joe Jackson in baseball ignominy, his legacy destroyed by gambling scandal. We find him here in happier times, his portrait bursting through impressively as you'll find no significant flaws in the central area. The original stick is still affixed with original staples. The areas around the staples and a brief tear in the bottom to the left of the stick are the main condition detractors. The overall aesthetic remains strong, and in light of the intense rarity one can't afford to pass on any example lightly. Completely original and unrestored, a top specimen.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
