    Description

1910 E98 "Set Of 30" Ty Cobb, PSA Mint 9 - Black Swamp Find. Mere words don't seem suitably appropriate for a card such as this. A monumentally impressive piece that few only dreamed could exist. With this unique find, only 74 of the more than 1,350 E98s encased in PSA holders bear a Mint 9 label. Before anyone uttered the term "Black Swamp" there were none. With almost all of this issue grading a 6 or lower, collectors have been trained to believe that ultra-high quality cards from this most admired Caramel issue simply did not exist outside one collector's holdings. To say 1910 was the date of this card's debut almost seems misleading. It took an entire century for human hands to touch with a gentleness reserved for the care of a newborn babe to bring this amazing find from dusty attic to public auction. The legend of Tyrus Raymond Cobb is familiar to all. His 4,000+ hits, lifetime .367 batting average and steel personality are all ingredients of the most flavorful lore in all of baseball.
This E98 Ty Cobb is graded PSA Mint 9. The sentence seems comical at first as one would never expect to read such a claim without some "gotcha" quickly following. We could describe it in detail but the simple truth is the card is for all intents and purposes... brand new. One may seem skeptical at first, but close examination will certainly convince any collector that it could merit nothing less. Our deepest apologies to the hobbyist who desires only "one-of-a-kind" cards. For the rest of us, this is an opportunity, and who knows how many more public opportunities there may be, to add to your collection a MINT condition, career contemporary card of Ty Cobb from a scarce "E" series with an unblemished provenance.

Just months ago, the most significant trading card find in hobby history emerged from a small Ohio town, neat individual player stacks of untouched cards, each banded by a short length of twine tied by a print shop employee a full century ago. Discovered in an attic in a box long forgotten beneath an ancient dollhouse, these stunningly pristine relics from the Dead Ball Era made their hobby debut in the August 2012 Platinum Night auction in Baltimore, providing the Heritage clientele with an opportunity outpacing even the most fanciful dreams of the pre-war trading card collector. Named for the damp landscape on the edge of Defiance, Ohio, where the cards served their one hundred years of solitude, the Black Swamp Find provides candy card collectors with the opportunity to add a scarce high-grade issue to their collection which was never available before. Here we make the first public offering, and possibly the only offering, of individual cards from that historic find. The remainder of the find will be offered as complete sets via private treaty sale, so this represents the best opportunity for bidders that are interested in owning an individual card from the Black Swamp Find to add one to their collection now.
