Description

1910 E90-2 American Caramel Honus Wagner PSA EX-MT 6 - Pop One, None Higher! The second of the trio of "E90" American Caramel promotions showcases the immensely talented 1909 World's Champions Pittsburgh Pirates. Of course, the key entry is baseball's premier shortstop, the "Flying Dutchmen" himself -- Honus Wagner. The portrait is immediately recognized as the work of renowned sports photographer Carl Horner. This is the very same portrait seen for the hobby's "Holy Grail," appearing in the T206 and E104-2 promotions. The offered example resonates with an intense quality rarely seen in cards of this era. A "Type 2" of this visual appeal is the exception to the rule as only seven of the entire E90-2 population have graded EX-MT with just one card (a NM Clarke) rating higher. That Clarke card is available elsewhere in this auction. The corners show modest amounts of wear at tips up to the challenge of complimenting the four bright white borders. The vivid graphics are centered close to perfectly. If we must criticize there is some very minor spots of blue printer's ink affecting the top border. The black key line is completely unaffected as is Wagner's portrait confirming this element is an application of ink and not a physical imperfection. This card is as highly prized and pursued as a viable replacement for its T206 counterpart, one that can be acquired at a fraction of the price and yet ironically is noticeably harder to acquire. This card displays a very clean back with a bold American Caramel ad. A very handsome card ideal for the Wagner enthusiast.
