Description

1910 E221 Bishop & Co. San Francisco Seals (Green) PCL Team Card with Buck Weaver - Only Two Known! This is one of four different E221's available in this auction and the only one featuring the San Francisco Seals and 1919 Black Sox Buck Weaver! The E221 series is at the top (or very close the top) of the "Rarest "E" Series List." Noted authority Mark Macrae conveyed to us that he believes there are just 36 total examples known in the hobby. Issued by the Bishop & Co. of Los Angeles, the thin-paper collectibles are premiums that were circulated (folded) inside packages of Bishop's Milk Chocolate. Mr. Macrae has the only known box and confirms a folded E221 fits perfectly inside. The set is advertised to be complete at six - one for each of the 1910 PCL teams - although a card of Sacramento has yet to be seen. This presentation is for a San Francisco Seals team card with a neon green background. The key member of this team is all the way to the left in Buck Weaver. It is with a bit of irony the "S" on the Seals jersey is very reminiscent to the "S" on the 1919 Sox uniforms. This is only of only two examples of this card known, it is fact the other example is trimmed.

This marvel measures a full 10" x 2-3/4" as made. There is the center fold (as issued) but no other major creases, a lone 1/8" tear comes in from the bottom edge. The reverse shows black paper remnants and adhesive residue. The technical grade would be fair--a completely moot point considering its ultra-rarity. This crowning addition to your card collection deserves to be matted and framed and put up for all to see. This is a must-have for the Pacific Coast League aficionado and the Black Sox specialist.
