    Description

1910-12 Plow Boy Chick Gandil (Blank Back) SGC 50 VG/EX 4 - The Highest Graded Example! Despite leaving a disturbing black mark in the history of baseball, the event has generated an immense amount of fascination with the "eight men out" close to a century later. Cards bearing the likenesses of the fateful eight are coveted by collectors as there is a very limited number of relics to acquire. While cries of "Say it ain't so" have made Joe Jackson a sentimental hero, no such benefit of the doubt went to Chick Gandil. He claimed otherwise but it is believed Gandil was the one who instigated and recruited others to throw the '19 Series. His status has elevated the desirability of this cards beyond that of many Hall of Famers. Offered is his very rare Ploy Boy Tobacco card issued his rookie season of 1910. Gandil didn't play Major League ball in 1911 and wore a Washington uniform in 1912. It wouldn't be until 1917 that he went back to Chicago for what would be the end of his career in MLB. The card offers it all... heightened rarity, a rookie-year debut, a famous/infamous player and condition. Graded SGC 50 VG/EX 4. One of only three graded examples found on both PSA and SGC census reports. This is the highest graded example of this significant entry!
