In the entire history of baseball card promotions there is no other issue that draws as much attention and passionate collecting as do the "Prominent Base Ball Players" comprising the 1910-11 T3 Turkey Red Tobacco cabinet card premiums. They are a remarkable combination of oversized dimensions, stunning colors and the finest illustration quality and lithographic excellence. They were a specialty not found in packs or boxes with tobacco but acquired via a mail in offer found on the reverse side of each card which also included a numbered checklist allowing customers to choose which player they desired in exchange for coupons found inside Turkey Red packages. This auction features an extended selection of these treasures, each graded by SGC and rank among the finest examples recorded by SGC on their census and each retaining the physical qualities collectors are always looking for such as just some mild overall wear and glossy, fresh, and colorful inks.
This presentation is for a 1910-11 T3 Turkey Red Premium featuring Hall of famer Sam Crawford with the Detroit Tigers. The reverse format displays a #'s 1-76 Checklist with the standard mail in offer.
Graded SGC EX 5. Of those confirmed with this style reverse, this is one of only seven graded EX with just two rated higher from a total population of only forty-six submissions.
