Description

1909-11 T206 Uzit Rube Marquard (Follow Through) PSA NM 7 - The Finest of Only Two Confirmed Examples! "Rube" was a sensation by the age of 21 when he made his debut with the New York Giants. The franchise paid a then-record $11,000 to secure his talents for the Giants pitching staff. The Hall of Fame pitcher led the Giants and eventually the Dodgers to five National League pennants, but October would prove to be a cold, cruel mistress as his squad would fall come up short each and every time pitching against legends like Eddie Plank and Chief Bender. When he retired, Richard Marquard won just over 200 games during his 18-year major league career. Offered is the second of his "Follow Through" T206 found within this auction. The other is a very nice Sweet caporal example but for those who are not faint of heart we present this incredibly rare card with a back that displays an almost never encountered "Uzit Cigarettes" ad on the reverse.

Graded PSA NM 7. The overall total PSA pop is now well over 550 submissions (w/any qualified). Only two have been confirmed with a "Uzit" brand back! A clean and colorful card with precisely centered central graphics. The printing on the reverse is as bold and eye-catching as is the obverse. Not only is this one of the nicest examples of this player/brand combo but as a striking NM example it is also one of the finest "Uzit" T206s on record - anywhere.
