Description

1909-11 T206 Uzit Hughie Jennings. Both Hands SGC 40 VG 3. Hugh Jennings was one of a select group of players who had their careers span over two centuries. His contributions as both a player (was part of the 1894-1896 Baltimore dynasty) and as manager of the Detroit Tigers during their three-year run of American League pennants in 1907, 1908 and 1909. This newly discovered example depicts the fiery manager in his most famous depiction, cheering from the third base coach's box yelling "Ee-Yah," a cheer he is identified with. The card shows modest, even corner wear and a bend in the lower left corner. Of course what makes this copy so much more desirable is the rare "Uzit, The New Mouth-Piece Cigarettes" brand reverse. A very attractive middle-grade card ideal for the type-set collector.
