1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal 350-460/42OP Ty Cobb (Bat Off Shoulder) PSA VG-EX 4. Tyrus Raymond Cobb was at the apex of his considerable powers in 1911 and was about to experience the greatest decade of any player since. His league-leading numbers that season are staggering: .420 average, 248 hits, 47 doubles, 24 triples, 127 RBIs, 83 stolen bases! Despite his vicious temperament that likely kept him out of the running other seasons, the American League had no choice but to crown him Most Valuable Player, the only season he was honored as such. Look closely at the image of the Peach, painted close to a century ago, and you can see it in his eyes. Though he stands before a serene background of soft pastel, the stare is one of great determination. It's one of the finest portraits in the long and impressive history of baseball card art. Our offered card features his "Bat Off Shoulder" pose and a scarce "Sweet Caporal - 350-460 Subjects" with a scarce factory 42 overprint caption. Great looking example with strong colors and a bright white border. Graded PSA VG-EX 4. With more than 1,300 submissions to their credit, this is one of only thirty-nine confirmed with this front/back combination.
