Description

1909-11 T206 Sovereign 150 Rube Marquard (Hands At Thighs) PSA Mint 9 - Pop Three, None Higher! Hall of Fame pitcher Richard Marquard won 201 games during his 18-year major league career. "Rube" was a sensation by the age of 21 when he debuted with the New York Giants. The franchise paid a then-record $11,000 to secure his talents for the Giants pitching staff. One of three Hall of Fame pitchers, along with Christy Mathewson and Iron Joe McGinnity, that garnered World Championships for John McGraw's New York Giants in the early 20th century. Overall, the Hall of Fame pitcher led the Giants and Dodgers to five National League flags, but fell each time in October. Of course this is no great dishonor when his World Series match-ups included talents like Eddie Plank and Chief Bender. There is no question this card is "World Champion" worthy.

Graded PSA Mint 9. Offered is his "Hands at Thighs" pose, one of three different poses of Marquard found in this classic series. The back displays a scarcer "Sovereign - 150 Subjects" ad with a factory 25 caption. Counting all brands, this is one of three in MINT with none higher but "Pop One, None Higher!" with a Sovereign back. Extremely attractive with eye-catching graphics highly complemented by the clean and bright white frame. The reverse quality matched the front. An undeniably high-grade condition rarity with an almost unbelievable portrait.
