1909-11 T206 Piedmont Sherry Magee "MAGIE" Error PSA Good 2 - The Hobby's Most Famous Typo! Setting eyes on a newly discovered collection of vintage cards is always a thrill. You always hope to find something that sets it apart. Heritage recently had the pleasure of offering a collection that yielded multiple rare red "Hindu Cigarettes" T206s including Ty Cobb. We are pleased to present a card from another fresh to the hobby find of T206s making their auction debut! This album-find sets itself apart thanks to the hundreds of cards that after resting unbothered for a century were left with rich colors, bold white borders and a famous typo.

The severely abridged print runs can be caused by force, like Honus Wagner personally putting a stop to his own appearance in the T206 set, or a simple mistake. For one of the most famous error cards in the hobby, one can almost hear the frustrated pressman screaming, "He spells it how?" and the ear-bending screech as the massive multi-color press comes to a halt. Sherry Magee was a solid player for the Phillies who amassed over 2,000 hits and almost 1,200 RBIs during his career but the misspelling of his name has made him a "Hall of Famer" in the card collecting hobby. The error was caught and corrected early in the process leaving even the most advanced collections of T206s short of this coveted mishap. Our offered card is a solid representation with a great portrait. Surfaces are free of pencil and ink marks. Thanks to its secured storage, the borders remain a bright white, perfectly set against colors that have remained deep and saturated. The PSA assessment is based on some corner wear, a linear impression in the upper right (corner mount?), reverse staining from storage/adhesive and yes, one small spot of surface loss the the left of the "S" in "Subjects." Graded PSA Good 2. This is an attractive card for the grade level and represents a huge step toward elevating your T206 collection to a level only a small percentage of hobbyists get to experience.
