1909-11 T206 Piedmont Hugh Jennings, Portrait SGC 84 NM 7 - Pop Two, Two Higher! For the better part of 40 years Jennings excelled as both player and manager. Regardless of his role, success followed. He was an excellent shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles who won National League championships in 1894, 1895 and 1896. For 13 seasons Jennings managed/coached the Detroit Tigers starting in 1907. His Tigers, with the help of Sam Crawford and Cobb, won the pennant in 1907, '08 and 1909 but never managed to win a World Series. This card is a strong example for the grade. A pair of corner tips show mere hints of wear at the outer tips, some faint toning along the bottom border on the reverse. Hues are bold and made all the better by the stark white frame which surrounds a perfectly centered portrait. Graded SGC 84 NM 7, this card is one of two Piedmonts on the SGC census at the NM level with two (both unknown brands/poses) are recorded higher.
