1909-11 T206 Piedmont Boss Schmidt, Portrait PSA NM 7. The legend of Ty Cobb leads one to believe he was the top of the "mean" list of the Detroit Tigers line up, but no. Boss Schmidt was a brawler who boxed an exhibition with heavyweight champion Jack Johnson. Schmidt became the champ of three Tiger pennant winners (1907-09) by whipping Ty Cobb in several fights. He made the last out in consecutive World Series in 1907-08, the only player ever to do so. This high end T206 is one of just over a dozen known Schmidt "portrait" cards recorded by PSA at the NM 7 level. Only six higher. Sharp copy worthy of the grade.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
