    Description

1909-11 T206 Old Mill Ty Cobb (Bat Off Shoulder) PSA NM-MT 8 - Pop Two, One Higher for Brand! When the Hall of Fame was inaugurated, in 1936, with the famous "First Five," it was not Babe Ruth who garnered the most votes, but "The Georgia Peach," Tyrus Raymond Cobb, who led the pack. From a dusty small town known as The Narrows, Georgia, to Detroit, Michigan, this feisty Southerner played in a way that did not allow you to forget him. And, more than one-hundred years after this card was released, we still haven't.

To say that this card is an attention grabber would be an understatement. It is extremely sharp; Cobb's steely gaze has an other-worldly appearance. The multi-colored sunset is a soothing contrast to the legends personality in its presentation. The borders are snowy white, the grain of the bat in the great man's hands is visible, as are wrinkles in his uniform. The back is the desirable Old Mill variety. Centering is honorable, with a slight vertical deviance. Very slight corner wear that is barely perceptible without magnification. Graded PSA NM-MT 8. A very lofty condition for cards of this vintage. This rarity is reflected at PSA where it shows a total "Bat Off" population of over 1,100 cards but only thirty-eight are confirmed with the Old Mill brand. Only two have been graded NM-MT with one (a lone 8.5) rated higher. This is certainly a treasure of a card and deserves its rightful place as the centerpiece of any vintage card collection.
