1909-11 T206 El Principe De Gales Ty Cobb (Portrait, Red) PSA NM 7 - The Highest Graded EPDG Example! Ty Cobb is certainly one of the most talked about, researched, debated, dissected, profiled personalities to ever play our national pastime. He is as admired as he is maligned. But what no one can question is that he is quite possibly the greatest hitter ever! He relied on his passionate, daring style of play to bat over .320 for 22 straight seasons. Cobb later attributed his ferocious play to the death of his father, saying, "I did it for my father...He never got to see me play... But I knew he was watching me... and I never let him down". Which is probably the most insightful statement regarding his true nature. Trading cards featuring his like ness are treasured by hobbyists as much as those who treasure him for his contributions to the game. His "Red Portrait" T206 has taken on a life all its own and now represents "the" Cobb" card to own... but in truth any of his T206 offerings are treasured acquisitions. The winner of this card doesn't just get one of the iconic cards in the hobby. This card is one of the finest examples recorded by PSA and is the highest graded example with the scarce "El Principe De Gales" brand reverse!Graded PSA NM 7, after well over 1,600 total "Red Portrait" submissions, only 3.8% have graded NM or higher. Of those, only a dozen fall under the EPDG brand (that is .07% of the total population). All the characteristics of a NM card are present and accounted for. The portrait offers remarkable colors and precise registration leaving a virtually perfect portrait. The surrounding frame is uneven but consistently clean and a pleasing, bright white. Almost all corner tip wear is found in the upper left. The other three corners slight traces of wear better seen under magnification. The reverse is just as impressive, only the ultra-critical will say "but the ad is off-center." Isn't it time to add a high quality example - with a scarce brand - of one of the top cards in the hobby to your collection?
