Description

1909-11 T206 Broad Leaf 460 Addie Joss (Pitching) PSA Good+ 2.5 - Possibly Unique! Hall of Fame Cleveland Indians pitching ace Addie Joss had much to be proud of. For many, his greatest achievement was his completion of 234 of his 260 starts. It was on July 24, 1911 when the greatest of the National League and American League held what is the first "All-Star Game" despite the event not officially being given that distinction battled the Cleveland Naps in his honor. It was just weeks prior that Joss was laid to rest on April 17, 1911 in Toledo, Ohio, the victim of tuberculous meningitis. How does an athlete know they were held in high regard? When multiple members of opposing team come to your funeral to pay their respects.

The "Pitching" pose of Joss can be found paired with almost a dozen different tobacco brands. Offered is one of the rarest examples with a "Broad Leaf Cigarettes - 460 Subjects" reverse of which there is but one known example! And remarkably the "Hindu Cigarettes" brand printed in Red is just as elusive. Graded PSA Good+ 2.5. The overall total PSA pop is over 950 submissions (w/any qualified). This is the one and only card confirmed with a Broad Leaf brand back!
