Description

1908/09 Rose Co. Rube Waddell SGC 50 VG/EX 4 - Only Two Examples on Record! This auction presents a small find of five 1908 Rose Company post cards, each is being offered at auction for the first time. This card features HoF pitcher Rube Waddell of the St. Louis Browns. Waddell is perhaps the flakiest and most undependable major league star of all time. He was known to show up drunk for games on a regular basis. His legendary manager Connie Mack once remarked, "The Rube has a two million dollar body and a two cent head." Personal demons aside, Rube became a member of baseball's elite in Cooperstown in 1946. There is some corner wear and light wrinkles seen on the reverse and has been graded SGC 50 VG/EX 4. This card is one of only two submitted to SGC, the other is an EX 5. There is no mention of Waddell on the PSA pop report.
