1907-09 PC765-1 Dietsche Postcards Germany Schaefer PSA EX-MT 6 - Pop One, Only One Higher! In 1907, the Detroit Tigers won their very first American League pennant before bowing to the Chicago Cubs in the Fall Classic. As part of the postseason celebration, there were numerous promotions, giveaways and souvenirs that showcased the Motown squad. Issued for the '07 World Series was a set of 16 postcards produced by the Dietsche Postcard Company of Detroit. Today, based on their limited circulation, these are not easy cards to find. The top name on the team, of course, was Ty Cobb, but offered is the postcard spotlighting upstart Herman "Germany" Schaefer who platooned at second base with Jerry Downs. This rare example is found in Excellent-Mint condition. Graded PSA EX-MT 6. According to the PSA Pop Report, this is the only card graded EXCELLENT-MINT with just one rated higher.Guide Value or Estimate: $400 - up.
