Description
1903 E107 Breisch Williams Honus Wagner SGC 10 Poor 1 - A Newly Found Example! There is no question that Honus Wagner's star has been burnished over the passing decades by his residence upon baseball's most coveted tobacco card. If any other card bearing the portrait of the Flying Dutchmen can be as highly coveted, this card is the top contender. A million dollar price tag isn't necessary to draw your attention to the serene elegance of the formal portrait that graces his E107 Breisch Williams card. Usually, his status is second only to the great Ty Cobb within a card issue. Here, the Old Dutchman, shown on this very early relic is something truly special. In a set no stranger to HoF appearances, Wagner takes his moment in the sun that "Hans" so richly deserves. The presented unassuming slab of cardboard could be similarly praised, rating as one of the most desirable rarities in the trading card collecting hobby.Offered is a newly discovered example of this significant entry. Graded SGC 10 Poor 1, the condition is admittedly imperfect, though this is the case where only a precious handful accounts for the known supply of surviving examples. One of multiple creases snakes across the proud portrait of the son of unknown German immigrants who became one of the most recognized American baseball players. The back has obviously been affected by scrapbook removal leaving adhesive residue and areas of loss of the top layer of card stock. While we cannot state definitively the precise population of surviving examples, it is telling that just five have ever passed through the SGC grading service, PSA has yet to receive a single submission, making the famed T206 Wagner seem downright common by comparison. In any condition, this is one of those cards that is able to quicken the pulse of every collector from the novice to the most passionate hobby veteran.
