One of only six graded by SGC!

1903 E107 Breisch Williams Addie Joss Rookie (Ad Back) SGC 45 VG+ 3.5.
The E107 Breisch-Williams issue is the first major baseball card issue of the twentieth century, the only comprehensive set of baseball cards appearing between the 1895 Mayo Cut Plug set and the golden age of 20th century cards that began in 1909. This unique historical positioning has made the E107 the source of a true bumper crop of rookie trading card debuts.

Presented is one of the more noteworthy examples thereof, a card heralding the arrival of Hall of Fame pitcher Addie Joss of the Cleveland Naps. Joss made his professional debut in the 1902 season. During his nine-year career, Joss had three seasons in which he won more than twenty games, with five seasons recording an ERA under 2.00. Joss appeared in 286 games (45 were shutouts) before his career came to an abrupt end in April 1911 when he succumbed to tuberculosis meningitis. The formal portrait is the work of renowned baseball photographer Carl Horner.
Graded SGC 45 VG+ 3.5. This is the only example for this grade with one rated higher. SGC has graded only six total examples. Joss is a Hall of Fame member of special regard It is befitting his card debut is part of the most historically significant productions in the hobby.
