1902-11 W600 Sporting Life (Type 2) Jacob Beckley SGC 70 EX+ 5.5 - Pop One, None Higher! HoFer Jacob "Jake" Beckley's career as a professional began when he and Harry Staley were purchased by the Pittsburgh Alleghenys in 1888. In 1890, he went to the Pittsburgh Burghers of the newly formed Players League for one year and then spent the better part of two decades playing for Pittsburgh, New York, Cincinnati and St. Louis before retiring in 1907. An under appreciated talent, his 2,930 lifetime hits was second only to the revered Cap Anson. Jake was honored with an induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971. Offered is a scarce W600 Sporting Life Type 2 cabinet of the honored Hall of Famer. Graded SGC 70 EX+ 5.5. The finest of only three SGC graded examples!
