1899-1900 M101-1 Sporting News John "Honus" Wagner BVG Authentic. This auction features an almost unheard of complete set of these rare and fragile supplements. Offered is a key to the series - John "Honus" Wagner when he still playing for the Louisville Colonels. Issued August 19, 1899, this rare supplement depicts the future all-time great via a unique portrait in his formal best when he was just 25 years old. It pre-dates every card of Wagner including his W600 cabinet cards. There are a few tears but no creasing. As seen, the bottom right portion of the otherwise full-sized fragile paper supplement has been hand cut away. With intact examples auctioning into the high five-figures this is a prime opportunity to add this rare Wagner that is dozens of times rarer than his famous T206 card.
