Description
1895 N566 Newsboy Cabinets Amos Rusie SGC VG 3. While there were certainly hard throwers in the years before Amos Rusie entered the league, no one could remember a speedball hurler more fearsome than the "Hoosier Thunderbolt." In a short, ten-year career, he won 246 games and led the league in strikeouts five times. He was fast, but also wild - some seasons he walked more men than he struck out, usually leading the league in that category by a wide margin. He was inducted into Cooperstown in 1977. Offered is a spectacular N566 Newsboy Cabinet photo of Rusie that has been graded SGC VG 3, although, in our opinion, this piece could have received a higher assessment. There is a slight area of wear to the upper left corner photo field, as well as some discoloration that barely impacts the appearance of the piece. Image quality remains very fine; Rusie's visage is sharp with pleasing tone.Auction Info
