Description

1888 N162 Goodwin "Champions" Timothy Keefe SGC 80 EX/NM 6. This is an impressive example of what is considered the most attractive collectible to feature the Hall of Fame pitcher. This is one of a pair at the excellent-near mint level with only one known higher. Keefe was a feared competitor who is credited with having the first great change-up in baseball, Keefe is also one of baseball's first 300 game winners retiring with 342 career victories. From 1883 to 1888 he won at least 32 games each season. Immediately, one realizes why this Goodwin release is thought to be the finest set ever produced. The card is almost perfectly centered with just minor hints of wear at corner tips. Inks have remained vibrant and glossy. The reverse displays excellent print quality and fails to be affected by one spot of stray ink on an otherwise problem free surface. Throughout this auction you will find a selection of some of the finest N162 Goodwin Champions graded by SGC.
