1888 N162 Goodwin Champions Bob Caruthers/Baseball PSA NM 7 - Only One Higher. The N162 "Champions" series, produced by Goodwin & Co. in 1888 for the tobacco makers "Old Judge" and "Gypsy Queen" brands, offers 50 of the most beautiful sports related portraits ever produced and is widely considered to be the most appealing 19th Century baseball card release. Offered is "Parisian Bob" Caruthers who both pitched and played outfield for the St. Louis Browns and the Brooklyn Bridegrooms. The beautifully illustrated portrait has retained tremendous ink quality, the blemish-free borders show some mild toning but still very nicely set off the colorful portrait, corners show only minor amounts of wear. A card that deserves its status as one of the finest N162 cards on the PSA census. Graded PSA NM 7, one of five graded NM with PSA, there is one graded higher.
