Description

1887 N28 Allen & Ginter Timothy Keefe SGC 80 EX-MT 6. Three years before his card was issued in one of the most gorgeous and collectible Victorian era trading card sets ever rendered, Keefe pitched two complete game victories in a single day, allowing just three hits over eighteen innings of work. The 1964 posthumous Hall of Fame inductee strikes a pitching pose for this early tobacco card, which exhibits expected edge and corner wear but leaves the image area quite clean. The very few surviving cards from this set are typically plagued by major condition issues (creasing, tearing, staining), so the opportunity to own one that still retains its strong visual appeal should not be taken lightly. As only seven other submissions grade higher that makes this presentation all the more appealing.
