Description

1887 N172 Old Judge Old Hoss Radbourn SGC 80 EX/NM 6. Nice clear image highlights this card of early baseball Hall of Fame pitching pioneer Charley "Old Hoss" Radbourn, shown here with the Boston Beaneaters. Radbourn had an incredible record 59 wins for the Providence Grays in 1884. Providence employed two primary starting pitchers at the beginning of the season, "Old Hoss" and young Charlie Sweeny. After Sweeny was cut, Radbourn took over most of the pitching duties for the Grays. At one point, he made an incredible 20 straight starts for the team; even more unbelievable, Radbourn had an amazing 20-game winning streak.
