    1887 N172 Old Judge Jim O'Rourke (#358-3) PSA VG 3. Jim O'Rourke is credited with belting out the first hit of the new National League in April of 1876. O'Rourke played for 16 years, batting .311 lifetime playing in both the National Association and Major League Baseball. He was nicknamed "Orator Jim" as it seems he could talk as well as play a good game. It was the Giants who paid for his attendance to Yale Law School, he practiced law during the off-season. His final appearance came in 1904 for John McGraw's New York Giants at the ripe old age of 53. This is believed to be the oldest any man hit safely in a major league game.
