Description

1887-90 N172 Old Judge Old Hoss Radbourn (#377-1) SGC 10 Poor 1. It is subtle but Old Hoss didn't seem to like having his picture taken and used his left hand to express himself. HoF pitcher Charley "Old Hoss" Radbourn had an incredible record of 59 wins for the Providence Grays in 1884. Providence employed two primary starting pitchers at the beginning of the season, "Old Hoss" and young Charlie Sweeny. After Sweeny was cut, Radbourn took over most of the pitching duties for the Grays. At one point, "Old Hoss" started 20 straight games and even had an amazing 20-game winning streak. Pose: 377-1 Hands on hips, bat on left, Boston (NL) #0106 Script series; Caption: RADBOURNE, Pitcher, Boston.; Grade: SGC 10 Poor 1; Photo Quality: Very-Good.
