1887-90 N172 Old Judge Buck Ewing & Mascot (#149-11-N. Y'S) SGC 86 NM+ 7.5. Often argued to be the finest player of the 19th century, William "Buck" Ewing joined Cap Anson as the top vote-getters from that century to gain admittance to the Baseball Hall of Fame for its 1939 grand opening. He was Cooperstown's first catcher and enjoyed a lifetime .311 batting average. One his more humorous and unusual N172 Old Judge appearances, and one of his most sought after poses is the one he shares with a youngster identified only as the team mascot but his name was Willie Breslin. This card is a variation with the New York Giants name is just"N. Y's" with a second version that spells out "New York." Not to be treated as mere adornment, young Willie does have his own Old Judge card.

Our offered card is pose #149-11 - Standing by mascot on chair. The caption: EWING & MASCOT, N. Y'S. Graded SGC 86 NM+ 7.5 (Pop one with two higher). Copyright 1888. Photo quality: Good-Very Good.
