Description

1887-90 N172 Old Judge Amos Rusie (#395-2) SGC 70 EX+ 5.5 - Pop One, One Higher!

UPDATE: This card is pop one, with only one higher!

Amos Rusie is ranked #3 on the list of rarest Hall of Famers in the N172 series. He has five poses yet very few of his cards are noted on census reports. What a sight it must have been seeing 6'1" 200-lbs. Amos Rusie only 50 feet away (until 1893) throwing a baseball in your direction at over 90 miles per hour! He was a flame thrower who won 30+ games four times but was just as likely to lead in walks. One of the most dominant pitchers of the time, Rusie amassed 246 wins in just nine years from 1890-1898. Retirement came in 1901 after he was traded to the Reds for a promising rookie named "Mathewson."

Our offered card is pose: #395-2 Pitch, R/hand thigh high. The caption reads: RUSIE, P., Indianapolis. Copyright 1889. Grade: SGC 70 EX+ 5.5.
