Description

1872 CDV (Boston Red Sox) Andy Leonard (George Wright Collection) SGC Authentic. The original pioneering Wright brothers were not Frank and Orville, but George and Harry, who together gave birth to the tradition of professional baseball and are forever immortalized in bronze at Cooperstown. This striking sepia image of the brothers' teammate on the 1872 Boston Red Stockings was removed from George's family album after it was sold several years ago at auction. It remains in the condition it was discovered, a faint oval around the portrait from decades displayed beneath an overlay, and clipped opposing corners. Otherwise the piece remains in fabulous condition with no creasing, tearing or staining. The carte de visite measures 2.5x4.25", and is encapsulated as "Authentic" by SGC, which makes note of its special provenance.
