Description

1979 Topps Ozzie Smith Rookie #116 PSA Mint 9 - Only Five Higher. Nicknamed "The Wizard of Oz" because of his extraordinary fielding at shortstop, Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith was nothing short of magical. An incredible fielder, he earned 13 Gold Gloves during his 19-year career and helped the St. Louis Cardinals win the 1982 World Series. Though most of his awards were secured during his years with the Redbirds, Smith started out with the San Diego Padres. Offered is Smith's prized 1979 Topps rookie card which shows him sporting some serious sideburns while in his Friars uniform. Card #116 from the '79 Topps set is found in Mint condition with superb color, nice centering, bright white borders, four sharp corners and a flawless reverse. Graded PSA Mint 9. Of the nearly 16,000 examples found in the PSA Pop Report, there are only five cards graded higher.
